Second Home connects volunteer host homes with unaccompanied high school students experiencing homelessness. As students have assurance of stable housing and ongoing support, they can focus on completing their secondary education and realize their full potential. The program is a ground-breaking example of how a community can respond to the issue of youth homelessness.

As a growing city, Milwaukie faces myriad challenges. Will is dedicated to tackling these issues head-on, with an understanding that real change comes not from one councilor, but from the entire community. Will believes that a bright future is in store for Milwaukie.

2025 MARCH MADNESS BRACKET-CHALLENGE

Let the MADNESS begin...

The Rotary Club of Milwaukie is hosting a March Madness Bracket Challenge and anyone can participate. The overall winner of the Bracket Challenge will not only walk away with their prize money, but the additional funds raised will be donated to the approved non-profit/501c3 organization of their choice!!

Selection Sunday is March 16, 2025 at which time you can submit as many brackets as you'd like until 1st tip of the games beginning March 20, 2025 at 9:00 am. Each bracket submission will cost only $25 per entry and you can enter as many as you'd like!

Payouts: Of the $25 fee per bracket; $12.50 will go to non-profit/501c3 organization of the winner's choice and the remaining $12.50/per bracket will be pursed with the winner receiving 75% & 2nd place 25%. For example: 20 brackets/entries; $250 to the non-profit organization; $187.50 to the 1st place winner; $62.50 to the 2nd place winner; Priceless bragging rights included!!

Rules: Round #1 games: 1 pt. Round #2 games: 2 pts. Round #3 games: 4 pts. Round #4 games: 8 pts. Round #5 games: 16 pts. Round #6 games: 32 pts.

Michael is the co-founder of SaunaGlo and serves as Sauna Custodian. He discovered sauna and ice baths over twenty years ago while trying to lose weight, eventually dropping 100 pounds. After years of using a fitness club imitation sauna, he discovered the powerful effects of a true sauna, built to the Finnish standard. Michael now helps others discover the rush of endorphins, hormones and neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, adrenaline, oxytocin and norepinephrine – an indescribable high that benefits one's mental health and physical well being.

Bridge City Improv is run by veteran Portland improvisers Beau and Lisa Brousseau. Launched in November 2018, BCI has produced shows at Portland Center Stage, The Siren Theater, Echo Theater and PerformanceWorks NW in Portland, and Milwaukie’s Chapel Theatre. Their shows present stellar casts of the metro area’s best and brightest improv comedians.

Spring Training

Spring training is scheduled for April 12, 2025. This will be a virtual training to give you, your club leadership and all Rotary members the flexibility and opportunity to attend only one or multiple classes from the comfort of their home. More information about spring training will come next year.

Ben Andrews’ journey from humble beginnings to success in athletics, business, and life is a testament to the power of belief, perseverance, and a commitment to serving others. Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Ben’s blue-collar upbringing instilled in him the values of grit, determination, and dreaming big. Coaches and mentors played a transformative role in his life, helping him see potential within himself long before he recognized it.

Zackary Pacholl serves as a Program Manager at Youth Era, an organization dedicated to empowering young people and fostering sustainable community support systems. Youth Era operates various programs aimed at helping youth and young adults become leaders in their own lives and communities.

Earth Day event hosted by the city to acknowledge Milwaukie as a Bee City USA affiliate. 

Event includes table vendors on all things environmental.  Rotary volunteers will assist with setup, tabling, planting, mulching and teardown.

Event includes litter patrol, weeding, planting, mulching and invasive species removal.  Special offering:  Pollinator wing decorating table for the kids.  Wings provided by Rotary.  Thank you, Heather!

Janelle Lawrence is an accomplished author and traffic safety advocate with a distinguished career dedicated to promoting road safety and educating the community. As the Executive Director of Oregon Impact, Janelle leads initiatives that administer DUII, Distracted Driving, Youth, and Latino Victims Impact Panels. Her impactful work in schools underscores the grave consequences of making poor choices while driving.

Milwaukie Community Center will be hosting a 45th Anniversary celebration to highlight the programs and organizations that utilizes the center.

Our Rotary Club will be tabling on the Milwaukie Pollinator Pathway along with our other programs.

The Rotary Club of Milwaukie is recruiting volunteers to support the Linwood Elementary PTA & support thier school carnival on Saturday, May 31st!  Volunteers will assist with carnival games/activities from 11:45 AM - 3:30 PM.  See volunteer sign up for shifts available.

In honor of National Pollinator Week, NCPRD will be hosting a family friendly Pollination Celebration at Stringfield Family Park @ 3614 SE Naef Rd on June 21st from 1-3pm.  There will be informational booths, face pianting, kids games and crafts, free wildflower seed.  Come dressed as your favorite pollinator for a chance to win a prize.

Family Promise prevents and ends homelessness for families with children and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Since 1985, District 5100 has led one of the premier RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) programs in the country. If you are not very familiar with the program, RYLA is one of the three programs that reside under the “Youth Services” Avenue of Service in Rotary. Our district’s program differs from others due to us awarding these scholarships to 19-32 year olds, as opposed to high school aged youth. Our program also takes place over a whole week at the beautiful Menucha Retreat Center in Corbett, Oregon. It is a week of intensive leadership training that has jump started the Rotary careers of many participants.
