Resilient Together - The Invisible Infrastructure of Resilience in Milwaukie
Oct 27, 2026
A resilient community is built not only on its physical infrastructure, but also on the relationships, trust, and networks of care that connect people to one another. Through a survey and mapping exercise, the city seeks to better understand the places, people, and relationships that residents rely on for support in both everyday life and times of crisis. By mapping these networks of care and trust, and the nodes of this invisible infrastructure, we can better understand the strengths that already exist in Milwaukie and identify opportunities to build a more connected, equitable, and resilient community. |

Nov 18, 2026 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM
This year, Bilquist Elementary is organizing a Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day celebration on November 18th. The event honors the legacy of civil rights icon Ruby Bridges, who integrated her all-white school in 1960. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day encourages young people to stand up to racism and bullying and make positive changes in their own community. It also builds upon Walk and Roll to School Day, an annual event celebrated each October in Safe Routes to School programs. Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day will give students another chance to gather with their peers and discuss issues that matter to them. We are always looking for people who want to join our walking group at the Safeway on Webster and walk to Bilquist. It is also helpful to have volunteers at the building who can help guide students the correct way around the building if they are doing a lap. Please sign up if you're interested in participating in this first annual event supporting Bilquist Elementary School! |
